Top Deck Tactics!
For many houseboaters, the Top Deck can be one of the best "together spots" on any houseboat vacation. Contemplating the possibilities before you go, however, is key to enjoying Top Deck Vacation Success.
Consider some of these easy Top Deck Questions: Would bringing yoga mats help facilitate a Top Deck Yoga Session? Or how about having a good music mix ready to go for Top Deck Aerobics? Which meals would be fun to eat on the top deck? And... what beverages or mixers would be fun to have along to help make frozen fun in the blender up on... the top deck?
Getting the most out of your top deck experience can be as easy as stocking the top deck wet bar fridge or as complex as serving up a formal dinner.
Knowing your top deck before you go can help with planning. Check the description page for your houseboat model to see what features you'll have to work with.
Is there a small fridge on the top deck? An ice maker? A hot tub? An elevator?
All houseboats in the Forever fleet have shade canopies on the top deck along with wet waterslides. Many also have captain's fly bridges (steering wheels) on the top deck. (If your houseboat has one, make sure you get individual pictures of your crew "at the helm" on... the Top Deck.)
Here's a fun idea: Bring along a big red and white checkered blanket and you'll have an instant picnic on the top deck. Just add sandwiches and your favorite beverages and enjoy a swell midday activity!
The possibilities are endless, and sometimes bringing along a simple thing like a checkered blanket can make all the difference. The main thing is to pre-think it through, plan ahead, and have a great time out on the water together!

Get A Lift To The Top Deck!
An elevator on a houseboat? Really? Who would use it?
You might be surprised to know that some of the 75' Houseboat models floating on Lake Mead and Lake Powell sport full-on open air elevators, with a view!
They're not like the elevators you would find in a building, with humming ceiling fans and banks of buttons to choose from. They are, however, a great open air way for some in your crew who might not be able to handle the stairs, or who use a wheelchair, to get up to the top deck and join in on the fun!
There's room enough for a walker or standard size wheel chair and plenty of lift, too. A keyed security feature also makes sure that it's only used when you want it to be used, safely! (There's a security gate in addition to the door and your Forever Marina crew will fully brief you on its operation before you launch your vacation.)
It may be slow and quiet, but the view makes up for the speed. Getting up to the top deck, now possible, is reward enough!
Check out both of these locations featuring houseboats with a lift to the top:
The 75' Platinum at Antelope Point Marina, Lake Powell
The 75' XTreme at Callville Bay Marina, Lake Mead

Top Deck Targeting
|
The top deck is definitely the optimal location for "targeting" family and friends below.
Don't forget to bring your favorite water toys along!

DEPTH ~Versus~ SURFACE AREA
|
The Upper Colorado River basin snowpack is currently 109% of normal, which is great news for water levels at lakes Mead, Mohave, and Powell. And while recent snow and some welcome rain seem to be pouring in on California, water levels may still be lower there than usual.
BUT... what does this all mean? While depth may make the water storage people nervous, water surface area is what we all play on. It's what we water ski on, wakeboard on, kayak on, fish on, and what we houseboat on.
As long as there is enough water to float the marinas, and the fleet of boats, there will also be more than enough surface area to have a great summer vacation on!
Whether it's 100 feet deep or 300 feet deep in the main channel, it's usually too deep to retrieve your sunglasses if you drop them.
Not sure about the surface area at your favorite lake? Give your marina a call for a first hand account. Ask 'em, "What's the surface area likeout on the lake?"
