Your Summer 2014 Lake Report:
We've had a lot of questions about the current water level situation on houseboating lakes in California, Arizona and Nevada. "Is there enough water left in the lake for houseboating this year?" and "Is there ANY water left?"
The answer is YES, and there's still a whole lot of summer left to enjoy it all too! In fact, as the air starts to cool down after Labor Day and the crowds thin out, the water will still be warm, perfect for fun! So... here's the scoop:
|
Trinity Lake ~ California ~ "Plenty"
While these kids up at Trinity Lake may have posed for this picture in the hot tub, there is also plenty of water in the lake under their houseboat.
"Yes, the water level's kind of low, but there's plenty left to houseboat." The main part of this 20 mile long, tree lined lake is still huge and deep, especially for houseboat vacation fun!
Look into Trinity Lake for some late summer fun!
|
Lake Oroville ~ California ~ "Tranquil!"
Lake Oroville Marina is open.
"People are amazed when they get out on the water and see how beautiful it is."
Discover a more exclusive visit this year too. "We have experienced a slight decline in rentals this year due to widely publicized lower water levels." That decline, however, may actually be good news for houseboaters that do go out on Lake Oroville. Chances are, you'll experience a more "tranquil" visit!
Houseboats (some models even sport full hot tubs on the top deck), and small rental boats (on the water) are still available at Lake Oroville Marina.

Don Pedro Lake ~ California ~ "Awesome!"
"There's plenty of water out on Don Pedro Lake!" In spite of the current drought in California, it's still a pretty big lake! There are coves everywhere and it's official, Fleming Meadows Launch Ramp will remain open for the season!
"Yes, we're low, but when you're out there, your closest neighbor could well be a couple hundred yards away from you."
Take another look at Lake Don Pedro, your gateway to Yosemite!
|
Lake Berryessa ~ California ~ "Fun"
"The water's down, rental boats are still in the water, and people are really having a great time out on the lake!"
Pleasure Cove is open for business with campsites, cabins, houseboats, and a lake full of enough water to have a fabulous houseboat vacation.
"When houseboaters leave through the gate, they always say they've had a great time out on the lake."
In a word: "FUN!"
Check out the choices at Lake Berryessa, just East of Napa Valley!

Quality Time ~ Real Smiles |
So why black & white this month?
They say some people dream in color and others do not, but the one thing we all have in common is that we often dream about images, memories and emotions.
Happy memories that last a life time are like dreams too. Whether they're in color or black & white, it's the feeling that goes along with them that matters most!

Lake Mead ~ Nevada
|
"People have already discovered the Lake Mead secret this year."
Even though the water levels are way down, the launch ramp at Callville Bay is open, and the lake is still hundreds of feet deep! Crowds have been lighter than usual and most importantly there are still hundreds of miles of shoreline and... hundreds of square miles of surface area to play on!
"It's a whole new landscape too, you'll see things that you were never able to see before!"
Discover the secret for yourself!

Lake Mohave ~ Nevada
|
Lake Mohave, situated right in between Las Vegas and Laughlin Nevada is one sweet lake.
One lucky lake too!
Because it's also located between two dams, water levels there barely fluctuate. Basically, Lake Mohave is always kept full!
(It's a real easy drive from most southern California cities too.)
And... talk about crystal clear water! You may even spot some scuba divers down below. Don't forget your snorkel!

Lake Powell ~ Arizona
|
Lake Powell, with more shoreline than the Pacific Coast of the USA, has water levels this summer that are actually higher than last year.
"The cut is open, fishing's great, and the beaches, coves and landing spots are prime for great houseboating."
Starting in mid August, the temps really cool down during the day and the nights are oh so sweet.
Sweet enough to sleep under the stars on the top deck!

Upside Down?
|
It's good to mix things up a bit once in a while.
Take wakeboarding for instance: Color or black & white, it's the rush of the wind and water grazing your hair that really matters.
It's the experience that counts!
See you next month "in full color" with an all new Waterways. Ciao!
